Blythswood Shoebox Appeal

For the 2019 shoebox appeal this year you can contribute two ways; either by donating individual items including shoeboxes or filling your own shoe box. A list of suggested and necessary items is included below. The leaflets will also be available in the church and hall.

Shampoo, soap/shower gel, face cloth/moist wipes, deodorant, moisturising cream, comb/brush, sanitary products, shaving foam/razors, underwear socks/tights, household candles, screwdrivers/pliers, kitchen utensils, pens pencils/sharpeners, notepads, colouring books, rulers, rubbers, T-shirts, pyjamas, shirts.

1st Saltcoats Boys’ Brigade will enrol this Friday 23rd August from 6.30 until 7.30pm for all sections. First meetings will take place next week Thursday 29th August for Anchor Boys from Primary 1 to Primary 3 at 6.30- 7.30pm and Friday 30th August for Junior Section Primary 4 – Primary 6 6.30 – 8pm; Company Section Primary 7 and Secondary boys from 7.30- 9.30pm.
ALL BOYS IN THE COMMUNITY WELCOME.

The Afternoon Club will resume on Monday 2nd September at 2pm so if your choice of activity is crafting and knitting or playing bridge, all sedentary, no jumping about here either, please come along. You are guaranteed a warm welcome.

The Guild resumes on Wednesday 4th September at 2pm. Please consider coming along for a time of fellowship. Men and women are very welcome. You do not need to be a member of this church, or any church; just share a love of the word of Christ.

Thanks to Christine Saunders, Zumba Gold is back . Classes begin on Tuesday 3rd September at 10am also in the hall. This class will be taken by Pauline Hughes and the cost is £4 per session. All ladies, gents if they wish, welcome. Christine says Pauline is a fabulous instructor and we are looking forward to Zumba returning.
Please make an effort to support these initiatives which bring revenue into the church. If you used to trip the light fantastic at The Moorings or The Rec , come along; tell your friends; neighbours and family. If the numbers don’t add up for these classes they won’t continue. We are trying to provide activities to welcome the community. Please spread the word.

Advance notice now of some new classes beginning this session. Yvonne Walker will start her Footsteps Dance Taster Class on Wednesday 4th September in the hall. Beginners Ballroom 6.30- 7.30pm. No charge for this first class. No need for a partner either. No sequins or lycra required. After this class Yvonne will take a class called Dance Yourself Fit and she promises a fitness class with dance steps. No jumping about and the music will get you wanting to dance. No charge for this class either the first week. Dance Yourself Fit from 7.45 until 8.45pm. Ladies and gentlemen all welcome to either or to both classes.

Final payment for St Cuthbert’s Culture Club’s Trip to Bonnie Dundee and the Victoria and Albert Museum and Discovery on Saturday 31st August should be paid to Graeme or Liz next Sunday at the latest.

Torch Trust

Torch Trust is a Christian organisation with a worldwide vision for people with sight loss. If you know someone who has vision impairment, meaning they cannot read the printed word, they may be interested in a Reflections Radio Programme from Torch.

Reflections is a weekly radio programme with a focus on disability and faith in today’s world. The show is produced by Torch Trust and presented by Marilyn Baker.

Find Reflections on RNIB’s Connect Radio (formerly known as Insight) – online, on FM 101 (Glasgow), on Freeview 730, and on smartphones and tablets through a variety of radio apps. Broadcast on Sunday just after the 9am news, with repeats on Tuesdays at 2am and Fridays at 1am. Or on Premier Christian Radio – online, on MW 1305, 1332, 1413, on DAB, and on Freeview 725. Sundays at 4pm.

Prayer walk/drive

On Thursday 15th August from 13:30 – 15:00 there will be a prayer walk/drive from the Baptist Church. If you plan to join them, you would be made most welcome. Meeting first in the church lounge for briefing.
