Session

As with any family, getting everyone together for a photograph can be difficult to organise. Some on holiday or otherwise unable to be with us on Sunday didn’t prevent the opportunity being taken. This picture represents many of Saltcoats St Cuthbert’s Session.

Saltcoats St Cuthbert’s Session. 6 October 2019

6 October 2019

This morning we celebrated with the sacrament of Holy Communion. The sermon posed the question “What is the Church?” Is it the buildings or the people? Buildings which are set apart can help us to find focus for our worship. The music, prayers and scripture readings contribute. Many traditions have sustained us through the generations and continue to do so today.

Not everyone is able to access worship in this way. They may be unable to come into church services. Ill health, financial constraints, persecution and many other reasons could prevent them but we are reminded that, however we practice our Christian faith, however we worship, Jesus said “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

Big Guild Quiz

A successful evening with much hilarity enjoyed by many. There was a tasty spread of sausage rolls and a variety of cakes on offer. We succeeded in raising £400.00 to be divided between church funds and Guild project Faith in Young People: Boys’ Brigade Scotland.

Grateful thanks to those who organised the event. The winning team calling themselves ‘The Hedgecutters’ managed to score 40 out of 60 possible points – Congratulations! The questions were not particularly easy and hopefully everyone left having learnt something new, whether history, geography, literature or film amongst the varied topics on offer.
