On a bright morning on Saturday 13th September a group of 51 church members and friends set off to sample the delights of Perthshire travelling by coach to attend a matinee performance of a Scottish based musical, Whisky Kisses, at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre.
Expertly piloted by life long Saltcoats coach driver Bobby Graham, after an uneventful pleasant two hour journey, we paused for a break and a light lunch (some lighter than others!) at the Perthshire Visitors Centre at Bankfoot and then reboarded for the short distance to our destination.
Adjacent to the theatre, the Pitlochry Highland Games were in full swing and many of us lingered in the warm autumn sunshine listening to the music and sounds that wafted up from the event from the field below.
The stage performance was enjoyed by everyone and although the storyline was simple and a bit predictable there were many very amusing moments of theatre and some very topical one liners appreciated by a capacity audience.
En route to our high tea stop which had been arranged at the Old Churches Hotel in Dunblane, a certain Mr. S. in our company generously made available to the party a tipple (some had more than one) of a refreshment appropriate to the title of the performance. A group photograph was snapped by Bobby before we boarded for the homeward journey. Apologies for the quality. There were so many of us that I had to stitch two photos together to get everyone in and as a result someone might have acquired an extra foot!
All in all a day enjoyed by all who attended and made all the more special because the weather and the participants behaved!!
