The fourth Sunday in Advent was a joyous Family Service. The children were all wearing costumes depicting the nativity. Maybe next year some of the adults might be encouraged to join in?

We even had a real baby!

Some folk had brought in their own nativity scenes, which were displayed for all to appreciate. There were also nativity ornaments created by the children hanging in our tree. (The minister suggested that all the congregation might like to make angels or stars for the tree next year instead of the pretty baubles…)

The children read this week’s lesson from Luke Chapter 2: 8-20 which told the story of the shepherds’ experiences (very clear and well read!).

The fourth candle in the Advent Crown was lit by the children this week and the other three re-lit. These represent hope, peace, love and joy. On Christmas Eve, the middle candle representing the Christ Child will also be lit.

Finally the diorama which has depicted various scenes from the Bible story revealed the stable location, with all the characters assembled to witness the miraculous child.

Everyone is welcome to our services on Tuesday 24th December when there is a family service at 6:00 pm and Watch Night at 11:30 pm. Mince pies will be served in the hall from 10:45.
